Hinsdale Seventh-day Adventist Church News

October 6, 2016

This Sabbath

Our speaker this Sabbath is Illinois Conference President Ray Pichette. It is exciting that Elder Pichette is joining us and we hope you will make him and all of our guests feel at home this Sabbath.

After the worship service, join us for a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Potluck only works if everyone brings enough for their family and a few more. Please bring hot food already heated.

180 worship service is at 5 pm.

Join us for a special Communion Service Sabbath evening at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. All are invited to come and be part of this beautiful service celebrating everything Jesus did to secure our salvation.

Our Church

It’s almost here, our First Annual Golf Tournament this Sunday, October 9 at Village Greens in Woodridge (75th near I-355). ‘Tee off’ is at 12:30 pm. We could use a few more golfers!!! The cost is $85 per player or $340 per team. There is a ‘Family Rate’ for spouses who want to golf together or for a parent and school-age child. We can have as many as 18 teams and would LOVE to fill all those slots. If you want to participate, be at Village Greens of Woodridge by noon on Sunday. Contact Pastor Travis Sager at cicgolf2019@gmail.com. Team registrations and sponsorship applications are available at the Resource Center in the Church Lobby or online at  www.hsdac.org under Activities. P.S. Pastor Sager needs two more players for his team!

Return of the Hinsdale Orchestra! Missed us, didn’t you? Practices are every Friday evening at 7:15 pm beginning October 14. EVERYONE who plays an instrument is invited to join. You don’t have to be at every practice, simply come to all the practices you can and join in praising God through music.

On October 29 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary will be a very special concert event by Bulgarian Pianist Ani Gogova featuring the music of Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev

You are invited to our weekly Prayer Meeting. We meet each Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Emphasis is on prayer and the study of God’s Word. Meetings take place in the Chapel.

Interested in a week at Summer Camp? The Hinsdale SDA Church will be handing out a Passbook filled with ways you can earn money toward your camp fees.

Did you miss the first deadline for our mission trip to Pena Blanca, Honduras? All is not lost! You can register to go on the trip as long as there are spots available. You simply need to turn in an application form and the $150 deposit. Application forms are available at the Resource Center and online at www.hsdac.org under Activities.

Who is needed on the mission trip? We have spots available for two medical teams, construction crew, translators and those who have a will-to-learn attitude!

The Heritage Singers are coming to the Hinsdale SDA Church on Sabbath evening, November 5. The concert begins at 5 pm and should be finished about 6:30 pm

Once the Heritage Singers concert has ended, make your way down to Hinsdale Adventist Academy for their annual Fall Festival on November 5. Activities begin at 7 pm.

Buddy Bears are coming! What’s a ‘Buddy Bear’? you ask. It’s a neat way to show the community we care. You will be learning more very soon.

News on the evangelistic front . . . our board has agreed to partner with the SDA Theological Seminary to hold an evangelistic series and field school, March 30 – April 14, 2018. There is much that needs to be done, but for now we are trying to raise $50,000 to make this a top-notch outreach event into the community. If we all start with a little each month now it will make the burden lighter later on.

Thank you for your faithfulness in our Local Church Budget. Our monthly goal is $29,640. That sounds like a lot, but we have a lot going on in our church: Hinsdale Adventist Academy, Youth events, Sabbath School, Pathfinders, Adventurers, Young Adults, Men’s & Women’s Ministry, VBS and so much more. Please continue to be faithful in giving to this fund.

Want to return tithe and offering even though you can’t make it to church? That is easy! Just go to www.hsdac.org and click on the Give button or go to Church Links and find Adventist Giving. Everything you need to donate online is right there!

Also at Live Stream on our website are both 3ABN and the HOPE Channel.
